LIVING THE GOSPEL

  • Providing opportunities for staff and students to participate in spiritual and faith formation programs & PD e.g. Lenten study and Service Learning seminar; parish youth groups, promoting RCIA program

  • Promoting and ensuring visible presence of symbols & icons - crucifix, prayer tables, candles, College Values, prayer books, artwork

  • Prayer and liturgical celebrations reflecting Church seasons and secular celebrations e.g. Spring Liturgy

  • Social Action and Justice Initiatives as a means of youth connection

  • Invitation to whole College community to attend and participate in liturgical celebrations

  • Linking scripture & prayer to College theme and values

  • Sharing the Gospel message with the wider community at religious and secular celebrations e.g. Welcome Liturgy, Night of Excellence

SPIRITUAL FORMATION

 

Some evidence includes:

 

  • RE/SOR/R&E excursions

  • Promoting the BCE Spiritual Framework in staff meetings & RE Department meetings

  • Invitation to staff retreat and prayer experiences (local Parish)

  • Leadership Team meetings

  • Staff input into planning student retreats & reflection days, etc.

  • Promoting spiritual development through participation in visual and performing arts at community celebrations

  • Allowing students from other faith backgrounds to feel comfortable when presented with the unfamiliar  (e.g. RE program, liturgies, prayer, Mass, assemblies)

  • Using blogs, websites, etc. in class discussions

  • Promoting the Mercy Charism and the ‘John Fisher Way’ (RE excursions, Staff PD)

  • Integrating faith formation experiences into retreats and camps

WITNESS TO THE WIDER COMMUNITY

 

Some evidence includes:

 

  • Working together with local community/parish initiatives e.g. St Vincent De Paul, Paddy’s Van

  • Local Aged Care Centre Visits

  • Parish & Primary school fetes, Sandgate ‘Einbunpin’ Festival

  • Participation in parish Multicultural Days and Social Justice Sunday

  • Including local parish clergy and staff in significant College events

  • Encouraging student & staff involvement in local parish activities e.g. SALT group, ROCK group, Parish Concert, Mass attendance

  • Involving staff in primary school visits e.g. Open Day invitation and information sessions

  • Encouraging staff and student participation in social justice learning days e.g. Caritas Launch, hosting Caritas Leadership Day

  • Organising Inter-faith excursions

  • Assisting families in need with food vouchers, school clothing, transportation
